Donald Maika
Executive Director
After a 12 year span in Private Equity, Donald founded Cultivo Advisory in 2019, he manages the firm daily and is responsible for business development, client relations, investment operations and capital facilitation. Donald has been instrumental in originating Cultivo's portfolio of clients and transactions in Botswana looking for growth capital and he has also built a network of local and global capital allocators - lenders, fund managers, DFIs, sovereign wealth funds and family offices. After completing his Accounting qualification at Botswana Accountancy College, Donald joined Samdef as an Investment Officer Trainee, Samdef was a media fund based in Botswana. Donald then joined Ariya Capital, a telecommunications, energy and agriculture private equity fund where he carried out extensive research in the sectors. Prior to founding Cultivo Donald was Head of Investment Operations at a UK headquartered sustainability private equity firm where he spent just over 10 years.
A team of corporate and technical advisors is engaged on a transaction by transaction basis to carry out specific roles at various progress-stages of a transaction, most of these advisors have been working with the founder for more than 15 years.
